ThinLinc 3.0.0 - Released!

8 May 2009 Cendio delivers world class graphics performance to thin clients

Version 3.0.0 of ThinLinc has been released with more than 120 enhancements. The most important new features are increased performance for streaming video and support for hardware-accelerated OpenGL applications on the server (through the use of VirtualGL.) Customers can now use a graphics processing unit (GPU) in the server to render 3D graphics, with many users sharing one GPU. Although these new performance features primarily affect applications running on Linux and Unix, Windows users will also see increased performance for streaming and graphics applications.

“We have seen massive increase of the graphics performance and this will make big difference for many users. We have focused on the graphics performance because organizations within manufacturing industry, government and large universities have been requesting this functionality for some time”, says Peter Åstrand, ThinLinc Chief Developer.

ThinLinc 3.0.0 also adds support for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). The VDI concept combines the power of thin client technology with personal single-user machines, typically virtualized. The ThinLinc VDI support requires no additional client software, and unique features such as support for smart cards, microphone (bi-directional sound) and eDirectory are now available for VDI users as well.

Cendio is now taking a clear lead in thin client virtualization technology with the release of ThinLinc 3.0.0.
