27 Nov 2009 Saab uses Cendio's thin-client solution ThinLinc for some areas in the further development of the Gripen System.
ThinLinc allows Saab to eliminate the problem of different tools requiring different operating systems, a key consideration in migrating to thin-client technology.
We believe that ThinLinc will give us the flexible thin client based virtualization solution that we need in our development process says Sofia Thorn, head of IS/IT strategy at Saab Aerosystems.
Development work which previously required special workstations or forced workers to use multiple computing platforms can now be performed in a single environment. Linux-based visualization tools, analysis software running on UNIX platforms and design tools in Windows can now co-exist on the same desktop. Developers benefit from features including the flexibility to work from any location, while maintaining performance in graphic-intensive applications.
We are very proud to announce our cooperation with Saab says Hans Leidebring, sales director at Cendio AB. This new investment acknowledges the quality of our ThinLinc software.
The Gripen multi-role combat aircraft is the first of the new generation to enter service. It is designed to meet the demands of current and future threats, while at the same time meeting strict requirements for flight safety, reliability, training efficiency and low operating costs. Gripen is in service with the Swedish, Czech Republic and Hungarian Air Forces and has also been ordered by South Africa and Thailand. The UK Empire Test Pilots' School (ETPS) is operating Gripen as training platform for test pilots worldwide.
