Application Publishing
ThinLinc can be configured to publish full desktops but also individual applications, to workstations running local applications as well. This is useful in several cases:
- Some client server applications does not work good over slow networks, such as WANs. In this case, running them using thin client technology can be a good solution.
- The application might deal with highly sensitive data. In this case, running the application in a secured data center means that no sensitive data is downloaded to the client. The thin client technology mereley provides a mechanism to "view" the application.
- Some applications are complex and difficult to install and upgrade. With thin client application publishing, the application only needs to be installed in a few servers, thus avoiding the work of installing it on every client.
- When using thin client technology, it doesn't matter which operating system the client uses. If you need to access an application written for "another" operating system from your normal workstation, ThinLinc is the easiest solution.
Accessing ThinLinc from a Web Browser
ThinLinc sessions can be accessed via a web browser, either using our pure Java client or a locally installed native client. Integration with web portals such as PortWise is also possible. Single Sign-On can be used, making it possible to launch ThinLinc sessions with a single mouse click.
