Printing Features

ThinLinc has several features to make handling of printers easier.

Local Printer Redirection

The user can print to a printer which is attached to the client. The printjob is transferred in a space-efficient format, which means local printing works well even if the client is connected via a connection with low bandwidth.

Nearest Printer

The nearest printer feature is designed to make it easier for users to print to the printer being physically closest to the client. Using a database with information on what terminals are located at each location, print jobs submitted to the nearest printer queue is automatically rerouted to a printer near the terminal the user is currently working at.

This means the user don't have to learn how to locate which printer queue is correct for every location. Instead, they can always use the nearest printer.

More Information

More information about printing is available in the ThinLinc Administrator's Guide, especially in the printing chapter.
