ThinLinc features an integrated Single Sign-On (SSO) mechanism. During login, the users password is stored encrypted within a session process. This allows for connecting to other servers without prompting the user for a password.
The Sign-On mechanism is used by many ThinLinc components. It makes it possible to connect to:
- Windows Remote Desktop Services via RDP
- Citrix Servers via the ICA protocol
- Other UNIX servers via X11 and SSH
- Windows file servers using the CIFS protocol
- Novell file servers using NCP
The product also includes utilities to set and retrieve the password, to allow for using SSO with other applications and systems. System administrators can disable SSO, if desired.
