Synergy
The terminal server acts as a bridge between the user and the
application servers. In this way the user can have access to the
applications best suited for the job, no matter what operating system
the application happens to be programmed for. It's easy to mix programs
from Linux and Windows, for instance, on the same desktop.
Single Sign-on
ThinLinc has built-in support for "single sign-on". No matter which
directory services or password verification systems the organization
employs, ThinLinc will be able to authenticate the users. So, instead
of having a plethora or different passwords, which often becomes a
security risk, the user logs in once and then ThinLinc does the rest.
Integration on the application level
ThinLinc makes it possible to integrate the systems and makes optimal
use of the server hardware possible. Through minimal agents, the system
keeps track of the condition of each individual server and distributes
the traffic with this in mind. Expensive special clusters are
unnecessary, since this handling takes place in real time, no matter
which application server is involved. It's also possible to have the
same application (same version) on different versions of Windows
Terminal Services.
Terminal windows
Since the system is based on Open Source software, it's made possible for the user to access different terminal windows, for instance AS/400 and z/390, with full integration with other applications, at no extra cost.
