Demo Account Instructions

In order to test ThinLinc using the demo system, a few steps need to be taken.

Register for an Account

To be able to use the demo system, you need a personal account. Visit the account registration page and fill in the form with the required information. It is very important that you enter a valid e-mail address, since the mail address will be verified before the account is opened. Choose a password. Please don't use a password that is valuable.

Proceed by checking your e-mail. You will receive an e-mail with a link. Click the link to verify that your e-mail address is valid. Your account has now been opened and you may login to the demo system. The mail also contains information about which username you should use to connect to the demo system.

The demo account is open for 30 days after creation. A few days before the account is closed, you will be reminded that the account is about to expire. If you need further time for testing, follow the instructions in the mail.

Download and Install a Client

To access the demo system, you need a ThinLinc client. Download and install a client that is suitable for your system:

The Windows client is distributed as an installer binary. Choose to run the file from your browser, or doubleclick on the downloaded file to start the installation. The ThinLinc client will be available in the menu after installation.

The Linux client is distributed as an rpm package. Consult your Linux distribution's documentation for information on how to install the client.

The Solaris client is distributed as a Solaris package. Consult the documentation for the pkgadd command for information on how to install the client on Solaris.

Connect to demo.thinlinc.com using the client

After installing the client, start it and enter your username and password in their respective fields. The Server field should be set to demo.thinlinc.com, which is the default. Press the Login button. The client will now connect to the demo system and present you with an informational screen.

If the connection fails, verify that there is no firewall blocking outgoing connections to demo.thinlinc.com, tcp port 22 (ssh). Consult your network administrator if you need help with this.  If you are unable to connect because of firewalls, consider trying out our VMware Image instead of using the demo system. Visit this page for more information.

Using the Java-based Web Browser Client

If you are unable to install the real client, one option is the Java Web Browser Client. Please be aware that this solution does not have the same performance as the native client, and that it lacks support for redirection of local devices such as sound, local drives and serial ports.

Try the Java Web Browser Client by visiting http://demo.thinlinc.com, entering your username and password in the form. This solution also requires that you can connect to demo.thinlinc.com, tcp port 22 (ssh).
