Safari doesn't let us use WebSockets by default when using a self-signed certificate. The user must manually approve the certificate, see our documentation regarding this here:

However, if a user didn't approve the certificate the error message or log message does not give you any clue to what went wrong. It simply says that the server was disconnected.
